| Masthead
was established
in 1998 as a literary arts magazine by Australian poet Alison
Croggon and was produced for four issues as a print
journal.
After a hiatus of almost two years, it was revived for the "American
Terror" special issue in September 2001. Now it is published
exclusively
on the internet as an e-journal.
Masthead is a unfunded
venture.
Regretfully, due to the difficulty of dealing with them, Masthead
cannot accept unsolicited contributions. Contribution is by
invitation
only.
Masthead is edited,
designed and
made by Alison Croggon, with graphic designs by Laurence
Peterson.
Consulting editors for print Issues 1 to 4 were Leonard Abrams, Daniel
Keene, Emma Lew and Alaric Sumner. Issues 1 to 7, plus the
American
Terror special issue, are archived at au.geocities.com/masthead_2/
.
Masthead is tested on
Firefox, Explorer,
Netscape, Safari and Opera. Magnifying text can destroy the
lineation
of some poems; if you have problems with this issue, check the text
zoom
under the "view" command on the browser menu and reduce the size of the
text. The magazine is best viewed at 90 per cent. on Explorer and
100 per cent on most other browsers. Unfortunately, due to the
size
of each issue, downloadable files of the whole magazine are
impracticable
at this point, but the pages are designed to be print-friendly.

the 12 months to August 2008 was 80,000 unique visitors, or just over
